In recent decades, the landscape of global education has shifted, with non-traditional countries emerging as destinations for international student mobility (ISM). Brunei is one such emerging destination, experiencing a substantial increase in Korean students choosing to study there since 2020. By examining the lived experiences of Korean students with student mobility experience in Brunei, this study contributes to both intra-Asian mobility and school-to-work transition (STWT) literature.

First, by examining the capital accumulated by Korean students in Brunei, we provide new knowledge and insights into the positive developmental experiences of intra-Asian mobility from the capital perspective.

Second, the study sheds light on how students with experience in a non-traditional destination prepare for their future careers, enhancing understanding of how intra-Asian mobility shapes the initial transition to the workforce.
